X12I Transportation Subcommittee

This X12 Transaction Set contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Equipment Inspection Report Transaction Set (228) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set can be used by a transportation carrier to provide equipment owners with the results of an equipment inspection activity. This transaction set can be used to communicate whether or not the equipment is in a damaged state. If damage has been identified, it can also be used to convey details regarding the damage. It is not used to convey information relevant to damage claims or repair activities.

        The EQD loop is used to convey the results of a inspection.
      2. To specify physical measurements or counts, including dimensions, tolerances, variances, and weights (See X12 EDI Standard Figures, https://figures.x12.org, for example of use of C001)

      5. To record seal numbers used and the organization that applied the seals

        The M7 at position 1/3400 is used to convey the new seals after inspection. Only transmitted when a seal number has been replaced. All seals must be transmitted when any single seal has been replaced.

          The NM1 loop is used to convey who executed the inspection, the location where the inspection occurred, and any parties associated to the damage.

  5. To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
