This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Shipment Delivery Discrepancy Information Transaction Set (854) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set is used to enable a carrier to notify a shipper or consignee of discrepancies between tendered freight and actual delivered freight. Delivery discrepancy data enables a party to track and control damages, overages, and shortages. This transaction set is not used to acknowledge receipt of goods.

  2. To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
