  1. A service segment starting and uniquely identifying a message. The message type code for the Quality data message is QALITY. Note: Quality data messages conforming to this document must contain the following data in segment UNH, composite S009: Data element 0065 QALITY 0052 D 0054 17A 0051 UN

    1. Data element S009/0057 is retained for upward compatibility. The use of
    S016 and/or S017 is encouraged in preference.
    2. The combination of the values carried in data elements 0062 and S009 shall
be used to identify uniquely the message within its group (if used) or if
not used, within its interchange, for the purpose of acknowledgement.
  2. A segment by which the sender uniquely identifies the Quality Data Message by means of its type and number.

  3. A segment specifying general dates and, when relevant, times related to the whole message. The segment must be specified at least once to identify the quality data message date. Example of the use of this DTM-segment is : date/time frame of reported data that apply to the whole quality data message. The Date/time/period segment within other segment groups should be used whenever the date/time/period requires to be logically related to another specified data item; e.g. date of measurement must be specified within the measurement segment group.

  4. A segment for describing the product involved.

  5. A segment to allow physical measurements and dimensions to be stated, where this is required for identification of the product.

  6. A segment with free text information, in coded or clear form, to give further clarification, when required, to the whole message. In computer to computer exchanges such text will normally require the receiver to handle this segment manually.

  7. Segment group 1
    Repeat 10
    1. A segment identifying the referenced document by its number and where appropriate, a line number within that document.

    2. A segment specifying the date/time of the referenced document.

  8. Segment group 2
    Repeat 10
    1. A segment identifying names and addresses of parties, in coded or clear form, and their function relevant for the whole Quality Data Message. Identification of the Sender and Receiver party is mandatory for the Quality Data Message. They are to be given in the NAD segment.

    2. A segment indicating more details regarding specific locations related to the party specified in the NAD- segment, e.g. internal site/building number.

    3. Segment group 3
      Repeat 10
      1. A segment identifying the reference by its number and where appropriate a line number within a document.

      2. A segment specifying the date/time of the reference.

    4. Segment group 4
      Repeat 5
      1. A segment to identify a person or department, and their function, to whom communications should be directed.

      2. A segment to identify a communication type and number for the contact specified in the CTA segment.

    2. A segment providing additional product identification to that specified in the LIN segment, e.g. Buyer part number.

    3. A segment for describing the product involved. This segment should be used for products that cannot be identified by a product code or article number.

    8. A segment to enable quantity information to be specified.

    9. A segment with free text in coded or clear form, to give further clarification, when required, for the line item. In computer to computer exchanges such text will normally require the receiver to handle this segment manually.
