A message specifying information relating to held inventories. The Inventory report message is intended to be used in either direction between trading partners.

  1. A service segment starting and uniquely identifying a message. The message type code for the Inventory report message is INVRPT. Note: Inventory report messages conforming to this document must contain the following data in segment UNH, composite S009: Data element 0065 INVRPT 0052 D 0054 19A 0051 UN

    1. Data element S009/0057 is retained for upward compatibility. The use of
    S016 and/or S017 is encouraged in preference.
    2. The combination of the values carried in data elements 0062 and S009 shall
    be used to identify uniquely the message within its group (if used) or if
    not used, within its interchange, for the purpose of acknowledgement.
  2. A segment for unique identification of the Inventory Report document, name and its number.

  3. A segment enabling the specification of coded information or free text information relevant to the whole message. In computer to computer exchange such text will normally require the receiver to process this segment manually.

  4. Date/time/period related to the whole message. The segment must be specified at least once to identify the date at which the inventory report was issued.

    1. A segment for identifying names and addresses and their functions relevant for the whole Inventory Report. Indications of the parties involved is recommended for the Inventory Report message. They are to be given in the NAD segment. It is recommended that where possible only the coded form of the party ID should be specified.

    4. A segment enabling the specification of the manufacturer of a line item.

    5. A segment specifying physical measurements of the inventory item, either in original or packaged form.

    6. A segment indicating that the line item is subject to special conditions due to origin custom preference or commercial factors.

    7. A segment indicating details regarding specific place or location of the specified line item.

    8. Date/time/period as applied to the line item.

    9. A segment enabling the specification coded or free text information relevant to a line item. In computer to computer exchanges such text will normally require the receiver to process this segment manually.

      3. A segment to provide specific serial, batch or packaging numbers to which the specific quantity relates. These may be single numbers or ranges of numbers.

      4. A segment indicating details regarding specific place or location of the quantity referred to in QTY.

      5. Date/time/period as applied to the quantity.

      6. A segment giving transport status report, e.g., damaged, customs refusal and totally missing.

      7. A segment enabling the specification of coded or free text information relevant to a specific inventory movement. In computer to computer exchanges such text will normally require the receiver to process this segment manually.

    corresponding UNH segment.
