EDI 158 Tax Jurisdiction Sourcing

This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the contents of the Tax Jurisdiction Sourcing Transaction Set (158) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This standard can be used to transmit any address, in US Postal Service format, from a wireless telecommunications vendor to the holder of tax jurisdiction sourcing information for the state in which the address resides, and to receive in return a sourcing of all tax jurisdictions which have governance over the address in question.

        The PPA segment is used in a response transaction only, to provide the FIPS-55 Named Populated Places standard codes applicable to the address.
      4. To identify a jurisdiction's taxing authority

        The TA segments are used in a response transaction only, to identify all special taxing districts applicable to the address.
      5. To indicate the action to be taken with the information provided or the status of the entity described

        The ASI segment is used in a response transaction only, to indicate that information related to the Address requested could not be provided.
  5. To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
