This standard provides the format and establishes the data contents of the Shipment Status Inquiry (Ocean) Transaction Set within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange environment. This transaction set provides all the information necessary for an authorized party to an ocean shipment to inquire of the ocean carrier as to the status of a shipment.

   To identify a party by type of organization, name and code

   To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments).
