The Response to an Amendment of a Documentary Credit originated by the Beneficiary and sent to the parties involved in the documentary credit. It is issued to advise the acceptance or non acceptance of an amendment.

  1. A service segment starting and uniquely identifying a message. The message type code for the Response to an amendment of a documentary credit message is DOCARE. Note: Response to an amendment of a documentary credit messages conforming to this document must contain the following data in segment UNH, composite S009: Data element 0065 DOCARE 0052 D 0054 16A 0051 UN

    1. Data element S009/0057 is retained for upward compatibility. The use of
    S016 and/or S017 is encouraged in preference.
    2. The combination of the values carried in data elements 0062 and S009 shall
    be used to identify uniquely the message within its group (if used) or if
    not used, within its interchange, for the purpose of acknowledgement.
  2. A segment by means of which the sender must uniquely identify the DOCARE message using its type and number and when necessary its function.

  3. A segment identifying the number of the referenced documentary credit. It also indicates the number of the amendment. This number should be the latest in the series of all amendments made.

  4. A segment specifying the date and/or time the message is created.

    1. A segment identifying the financial institution(s) associated with the documentary credit, in coded or uncoded form, their functions and account numbers involved.

    2. A segment specifying reference numbers of parties specified in the leading FII segment.

    3. A segment identifying a person or a department for the party specified in the leading FII segment to whom communication should be directed.

    4. A segment identifying communication type(s) and number(s) of person(s) or department(s) specified in the associated CTA segment.

    1. A segment identifying names and addresses of the parties associated with the documentary credit, in coded or uncoded form, and their functions.

    2. A segment specifying reference numbers of parties specified in the leading NAD segment.

    3. A segment identifying a person or a department for the party specified in the leading NAD segment to whom communication should be directed.

    4. A segment identifying communication type(s) and number(s) of person(s) or department(s) specified in the associated CTA segment.

  7. Segment group 3
    Repeat 1
    1. A segment specifying details of any authentication (validation) procedures applied to the DOCARE message.

    2. A segment identifying the validation date/time.

  8. A service segment ending a message, giving the total number of segments in the message (including the UNH & UNT) and the control reference number of the message.

    1. 0062, the value shall be identical to the value in 0062 in the
    corresponding UNH segment.
