Gnosis Freight uses Stedi to unlock major customer deal
Gnosis Freight is an industry leader in advanced supply chain visibility and execution software, made available through its Container Lifecycle Management™ platform, designed to mimic the approach logistics professionals use to conceptualize their supply chains. The platform provides the data and execution tools needed to manage containers and helps logistics teams save time and reduce costs.
Challenge
Gnosis Freight needed EDI capabilities to land a major contract with a large commercial retailer. Specifically, they needed to ingest 856 Ship Notices from eight different third-party logistics (3PL) providers into their platform so the customer could track shipments from end to end.
“Building our own EDI integration platform just wasn’t feasible for our timeline or with the development resources we have as a startup,” says Software Engineer John McGue. “We needed a developer-friendly solution that we could set up quickly.”
Solution
John and his team used Stedi to build EDI integrations with all eight 3PL providers in a matter of weeks. For each integration, they receive files from the trading partner over a Stedi-hosted SFTP connection. Then, they use Stedi’s Destination webhooks to forward translated transactions (JSON) to their internal APIs.
John says he appreciates how Stedi massively simplifies EDI, which is notorious for making integrations painful and slow. “All the EDI work we needed to do in the Stedi platform was straightforward and only took a few days. Most of the time spent on this project has just been waiting for our trading partners to send us EDI files.”
Results
Since implementing Stedi, Gnosis Freight has been successfully receiving and ingesting 856 Ship Notices for their retail customer. They can also more confidently expand their business to new customers who need to send or receive EDI.
John says he would absolutely recommend Stedi to other businesses that need EDI capabilities to facilitate growth. “The Stedi platform had everything we needed to solve EDI.
